Reserve Deputy James A. Driver, Unit #53-49
Monroe County Sheriff’s Office – Indiana
End of Watch: Monday, March 29, 2021 Tour of Service: 2 years
Survivors: Wife, daughter, and two stepchildren
While responding to an accident with injuries, James was involved in a motor vehicle crash of his own. An oncoming vehicle pulling a trailer had attempted to stop (yielding to James’ lights and siren), but the driver of it lost control. The trailer struck James’ patrol car, causing it to roll over. James suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
James’ sacrifice while urgently responding to help another will never be forgotten.
The members of Back the Line of Monroe County honor James’ memory in our mission to promote hope and compassion within the First Responder Community in Monroe County and the City of Bloomington. Our mission enables us to provide resources and support to sick, injured, or lost, First Responders and their families. Our organization is entirely supported by donations and sponsors.
Prayers to Deputy Drivers team and family during this time of great sorrow. - Reserve Sgt. Redlin Oakland County Sheriff, MI
